Spring and Summer Line-Up

Alrighty, so finally I have sort of gotten my act together. As in, figured out what acts are goin on around town other than the act of me making my new room a happy space, managing waking up at 5am 4 days a week, adapting to a Boulder winter, learning the ropes at Lucile's and Standup for Kids. Ah, what a whirlwind moving to a new place is! But I do love it here and am happy beyond belief about all the things going on! Oh, I am happy! I'm hoping to lure you in with a few of the main attractions happening this spring and summer. I have already bought tickets to Nebbia, Rent, and Girls Only:The Secret Comedy of Women. Tickets for the Mile High Music Festival go on sale April 3rd...

- The 61st Annual Conference on World Affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder April 6th-10th. "The Conference on World Affairs, originally founded in 1948 as a forum on international affairs, expanded rapidly in its early years to encompass the arts, media, science, diplomacy, technology, environment, spirituality, politics, business, medicine, human rights, and so on. Roger Ebert, who has participated in the CWA for thirty-eight consecutive years, refers to the CWA as 'the Conference on Everything Conceivable.' Each April 110 participants representing a wide range of backgrounds gather in Boulder for what The New York Times calls “a week-long extravaganza of discussion and debate” on over 200 panels, plenaries and performances" (http://www.colorado.edu/cwa/information.html_.

- Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts April 17th. "An original comedy that celebrates the honor, truth, humor and silliness of being female" ( http://www.denvercenter.org/shows-and-events/Shows/GirlsOnly/Overview.aspx).

-Cirque Eloize Nebbia at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts April 28th. "Experience the sites and sounds of a European circus in this vibrant production that brings together an international cast of acrobats, clowns, jugglers, trapeze artists and musicians to create a rich, fast-paced tango of emotions" (http://www.denvercenter.org/Home.aspx).

- Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World's Greatest Trips. I want to do a 2-3 day drive listed in this book. The drive goes through Colorado's most scenic areas. Hope to do it June 14th-16th. I want to either do that or one of the best sections of the Colorado trail.

- Rent June 9th. "Rent is the classic musical about love, friendship and community, and is the seventh longest-running show in Broadway history" (http://www.denvercenter.org/Home.aspx).

-Enter the Haggis at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver June 10th. An incredible folk rock/celtic/jam band from Canada.

- Moondance International Film Festival in Boulder Colorado June 20th-21st. "The Moondance International Film Festival, popularly known as the "American Cannes", is one of the premier venues for the exhibition and promotion of feature and short films in the US, and one of the leading indie film festivals in the world" (http://www.moondancefilmfestival.com/index.html)

- Mile High Music Festival in Denver July 18th and 19th.

- Boulder Peak Triathlon June 21st. Mmmmmm-aybe. It depends... ;)

- Best place to see wildflowers in Colorado. Blue Lakes trail. 5.7 miles 1 way. July 12th-14th.
- Washington Gulch hike or Rabbit Ears Pass National Forest July 19th-21st.

- Krishna Das August 1st and 2nd in Boulder! He sings beautiful Kirtan Indian Chants.

- Rocky Mountain Tea Festival and Boulder International Art Festival in August.

- Best place to see aspens bloom in Colorado. Sneffels Range mid September.
- Wicked is also showing in Denver in October! "The untold story of the Witch of Oz" ( http://www.denvercenter.org/shows-and-events/Shows/Wicked/Overview.aspx).
