McDonalds Love

If we look happy, that's probably because we are ecstatic.

Katelyn, Diana, and I made a special trip to McDonalds between class to get theri $1 Filet O Fish burgers and Chicken McNuggets...

Now I generally don't eat fast food-- and I haven't had McDonalds since 8th grade (no joke). But I have to admit, it was pretty damn sweet.although, it wasn't so sweet afterwards when all 3 of us had major stomach problems (Even though we ordered different things). This makes me worry about the sanitary well-being of Shattuck McDonalds. I swear I'm never going there again. Nevertheless, we had a blast. Here's us showing of our nutritionally empty food!

Cobb's Comedy Club

Two weeks ago Katelyn, Diana, Jinlin and I went to go see Hal Sparks (from Queer as Folk and I love the 80s) at Cobb's Comedy. We are public transportation beasts.

It was a GORGEOUS DAY! Simply fantastic. We ended up having dinner at the Stinking Rose in North Beach, which to my surprise wasn't THAT terrible. I LOVED their garlic spread for their bread. Mmmmmmm....

Anyways, Hal was hilarious and has totally inspired me to become a stand-up comic. Just go! Its fun!

Hola

Ariane I'd love to do that Spring break trip to Sequuia National, Death Valley, and the Grand Canyon . When is it? Nate's got me on lock down for the first week after I get back. haha...

Laura, how are afternoon tennis, fantasy baseball (is it), and intermeural dodgeball going? Nate has a midterm this week which means you guys must be in the mix as well. Good luck and keep in mind you can now count the number of midterms you have left on one (maybe 2) hands!!

I did 3 more hikes since the routeburn. They were wonderful and I'll post pics soon. I'm still at Mount Cook Village and am off to Christchurch in about an hour.

The Bug

Ok, I admit it. I've caught the bug again. I am itching to go traveling and lucky for us spring break is almost here! Of course I have to power through a couple of midterms before it begins but the point is that its almost here! And with Sierra coming back in a couple of... what.. DAYS I think its a perfect time to go on a roadtrip!

I'm supposed to be doing my reading, but instead I'm fantasizing about hikes through Sequoia forests So! In accordance with Sierra's last post about trips to nature and such I propose a spring break roadtrip in which we go through...

1) Sequoia National Park (I'm excited to drive through a tree)




















2) Death Valley



3) and finally... the Grand Canyon!



Yes there will be marshmallows, yes there will be dirtiness, and no lack of fun. I want to hit up some ghost towns too.

Routeburn Trek near Queenstown

I have to write more about it later. It was extroidinary! Rated by national geographic as the #10 best trek in the world! crazy huh

TOO MUCH THINKING TIME!

So I've traveled 18 hours on bus over the last 2 days on a freakin bus! The map isnt to hard to read if you look at only the South Island. Yesterday I traveled from Nelson to Fox Glacier (10 hours). a nice stop was the pancake rocks in punakaki and the glacier at fox glacier. Then I took the bus from Fox glacier to Queenstown today (8 hours). I'm tired, I'm lonely, but I am so glad I am getting to see the REAL NEW ZEALAND. The deep south really is the best part of NZ. It has the mountains shooting up into the sky far past the clouds, laks larger than you can imagine, and just a whole lot of gorgeous bush flowers and waterfalls!!

Lake Matheson in Fox Glacier. Just 6 miles from my hostel which I actually didnt get to see b/c of bad weather. I'm hoping to get there on my way back up the south island.

Queenstown: Where I am now.

Queenstown is a place in itself. Its the adventure capital of new zealand. As I drove into the town i saw a person bunji jumping. During my run an hour later I saw people parachuting from the sky! This guy I talked to at the hostel is all about doing river surfing...basically that's when you screw the raft in white water rafting and decide to go down the rapids on a surf board!

I've booked a hut (30$ US dollars)and a roundtrip bus ride (50 US$) to do the routeburn track on Monday! Its about 9 hours of tracking over 2 days. I'm excited and I'll definitely be taking pics.

I'm excited to come home!!!
